Tru-Fire is the world’s largest release manufacture for a number of reasons. All Tru-Fire releases are 100% American made all the way to the wrist strap. All releases feature a lifetime warranty and many useful features. For 2009 Tru-Fire kept their great tradition rolling with the Edge releases.
The new Edge release is designed with smaller than a dime sized trigger head on it. Although the Edge smaller it still has all the functionality and great features that all Tru-Fire releases are equipped with. The Edge release line utilizes a linear motion bearing which delivers an extremely smooth trigger feel. Just pull the trigger back to open the jaws, and let up on the trigger to close the jaws. Several years ago, Tru Glo inc. released the Apex Gear line of accessories. The Apex line of sights represents Tru-Glo’s many years of experience in producing top quality, user friendly bow sights. Two of these sights in particular are designed with the bow hunter in mind.
The Apex Nitrus is the first of these available in four and six pin versions as well as .029 or .019 fiber sizes to suit any situation that a bow hunter might encounter. Another feature that is new on the Nitrus four pin sight is the absence of red pins. The alternating green and yellow pins stay visible in the woods for a much longer period of time. If there is such a thing as the best bow for a person’s money, then the Mission Archery Eliminator would be a top contender for the title. At just under $500, the Eliminator is a value priced bow packed full of high end features.
At first glance the archer sees the parallel limbs and thinks quiet, shock free shooting. The perimeter weighted cam is perfectly balanced to further smooth out the shot. The cam working along with the limbs can propel an arrow toward the target at an impressive 319 FPS IBO. Each Eliminator also comes with string cushions and the all new D-amplifier system. This whisper quiet bow was also designed with the bow hunter in mind. It is just 30.25 ATA and weighs in at just over 4 pounds making it compact and a dream to carry on any hunt. The Eliminator was also designed to be versatile enough to fit archers of almost any size. Its draw length can be adjusted from 24 to 30 inches and peak draw weights of 40 all the way to 70 are available. (more…)

It’s a crisp morning, the sun has not even broken the horizon to warm the foliage the crunches beneath your feet. You hear a small animal scurry away as you make your way to set up your ambush. There is a cool breeze blowing in your face. You think to yourself, “the conditions are perfect, I won’t be detected. You are finally at your point of arrival. You slowly climb to your stand and secure your weapon. It may be a long wait be fore your target arrives, but you know you are well prepared to make the first shot count.
This may sound like the beginning of a war moving describing a sniper preparing for the shot. In reality this is a description of a hunter methodically making his way to his tree stand on opening day of archery season. This is a special day for those of us that have been raised in the excitement and skill of the sport. I would consider a craft, an art form, if you will. I am going to discuss the main tool of this art. (more…)

When PSE unveiled their X-Force line of bows in 2007 they took the archery industry by surprise. At the time they had done what others had only dreamed of. They produced a bow with a healthy brace height, light mass weight and smooth draw. That may sound fairly status quo for many bows on the market until you see that it shoots at an IBO rated 350 fps. A bow with specs like that is definitely worth taking a look at. The best part is the for 2009 PSE has out done themselves again
For 2009, PSE has revamped and improved an already very impressive bow. They offer an X-force for virtually all archers with six different axle to axle lengths and brace height combinations. PSE has designed a new cam called the GX hybrid which is allowing them to increase the speed of their bows as well as increase the let-off. The two main bows are the X-Force GX and the X-Force Dream Season GX. The GX is 32.5†ATA with a modest 6†brace height. The speed and let-off of the new GX is where all the changes took place. The let-off went from 75% to 80% and the speed crept up from 350 to 352 IBO. (more…)

Carbon Express has perhaps built the best arrow ever constructed, and the technology behind the Aramid KV has taken arrow manufacturing to new heights. The Aramid arrow is definitely the top of the line hunting arrow on the market today. The Aramid KV is made with a layer of Kevlar, which is a synthetic fiber that is pound for pound five times stronger than steel.
No doubt that makes the Aramid the most durable arrow that you can buy for hunting. The Aramid also has one of Carbon Express most popular pieces of technology, Weight Forward. With built in weight forward you will receive superior down range accuracy with a broadhead. The Aramid KV features the Bulldog Nock Collar for added strength and protection. Most people really like the Bulldog Collar, because it can help save some arrows from breaking when target practicing. Aramids come standard with Blazer vanes on them which will add velocity and durability. (more…)

New for 2009 is the Russell Outdoors APXG2 Hunting Apparel. The APXG2 has 5 levels of clothing which work as a layering system and allow the hunter to have a comfortable weather resistant outfit.
The Level 1 system has 2 different baselayers to choose from which give you outstanding moisture wicking anti-microbial protection. This is perhaps the most important part of a good layering system because it actually pulls sweat away from you body which keeps you much warmer in cold conditions. It is equally important to wear moisture wicking garments in hot weather because it will keep you more cool from the evaporation of sweat from body. (more…)

The summer months are a great time to get your bow out and make sure it is ready for the fall. Most bowhunters shoot their bows in the summer but shooting isn’t the only thing that needs to be done before fall.
I’m sure you have been in the situation: you come to full draw and let an arrow fly at a deer. You watch in disbelief as the buck or doe jumps the string and disappears into the woods. There was probably a time when you didn’t even get your bow to full draw because the deer you were aiming at heard the familiar noise of an arrow sliding across your arrow rest. The good news: these problems can be solved! (more…)
