An introduction to Pilates
Over the last decade Pilates has become increasingly popular among dancers, athletes, models and celebs. Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow, Liz Hurley, even John Cleese. These are just a few of the big names who swear by Pilates and have helped to fuel the ever growing popularity of this “wonder workoutâ€. But what is Pilates, what are the benefits, and how do you choose a Pilates instructor?
What exactly is Pilates?
Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates during the First World War to help rehabilitate returning war veterans. He recommended a few, precise movements emphasizing control and form that help to strengthen, stretch, and stabilize key muscle groups. These movements focus particularly on what he called the “powerhouse†– the abdomen, lower back, hips and bum. Fitness professionals call this part of the body “the coreâ€, and as any Pilates instructor or personal trainer will tell you, it is the starting point of all strength, balance and posture. Bringing a Pilates Focus to your Gym Workout
You spend all that time and money with your Pilates teacher weekly, right? Whether privately, in a semi-private or in a group mat class. You love how you feel when you leave the studio or class, right?   You believe in the work and see what it has done to your body, then why not take the principles of the workout with you onto the gym floor the next time you go there?
Who said Pilates could only be done on the floor on a mat?  What stops you from using your powerhouse everytime you sit at a piece of equipment? what prevents you from “lifting in and up” everytime you use the Lat Pulldown or Cables for Tricep Presses? Why can’t you breathe through the “back ribs” when you inhale and melt over that stability ball or when you are doing Lateral Shoulder Raises anyway? Texas Holdem – Learn How To Play Texas Hold Em
In this game, five additional cards are placed in the center of the table. They are gradually turned up, one at a time. All players consider these cards as part of their hand. Every player can use any of the community cards as part of his or her hand, although you must include your pocket cards in your hand as well. A poker hand is only five cards, regardless of the seven cards that are out there. So the two cards in your hand, the pocket cards, must be put into your Texas Holdem hand. You can choose three cards from the community cards to also add to your hand.
The betting in Texas Hold em starts with the flop. These are the first three cards that are turned up, one at a time, on the table. Because everyone can use these cards in their hand, you have a good idea of trying to figure out what everyone has or what they are shooting for. You have no idea, however, the pocket cards of the other players. Read more
